Rural

The crunch of the gravel under my feet is the only sound that is let into the open air, other than that, silence surrounds everything like cotton wool. The sky is painted with dark blue like a paintbrush had just swooped across it with thick oil paint. The only thing to stand out against this canvas was the stream of birds that glide along in a single line, all following the leader at the front. Mimicking its every move, even when it dives down close enough to touch the tree top that Autumn had stripped bare. The last lonely leaf remains. Clinging on to the branch, showing its strength through the harsh wind, all that is left to show from the last season. The smell of damp ground invades my nostrils, leaving me to take a deep breath and fill my lungs with the pure air.

Hello

Hello and welcome to my introductory blog! This isn't my first blog as I have had this for a while and used to have a few posts already, but I came back on it after a year to start a new with a fresh look and use it to blog my hobby that I am most passionate about - Writing!

I've always loved writing and always wrote short stories. English was always my favourite subject at school. But it has only been recently that my love for writing has flourished once again since starting Sixthform not too long ago and being the first year to take an A Level in Creative Writing! Already it is developing me as a writer and giving me amazing comments and criticisms to help me improve.

I have recently also started to look at Creative Writing at university and started to think of ways to write as much as I can, when a friend suggested I keep a blog. I wasn't too keen at the start as I already keep a journal everyday, which is hard enough, and I thought "what's the point? No one will read it!" When I remembered that I don't have to write for people to read it. I have to write because writing is everything to me!

So, I will use this blog as a kind of exercise book - which will involve short stories, poems (my poetry is improving a little) and sometimes just general thoughts that I would just like to express sometimes. And if people read it - all the better! Please know that if you are reading this, thankyou very much! I really really do appreciate it.

Nice to meet you,
Buttercup x
